This is a very nice pair of hunkered down GIs. A prone soldier is shouting into a walkie-talkie, the other kneels on his right knee, holding an M1 carbine.

The prone figure is composed of a head, a left hand holding the walkie-talkie, and the rest of the body is molded as one piece. Surrounding the body is molded "grass" base. Why Verlinden does this is anybody's guess; personally, I'd rather do without to better facilitate placement of the figure in a diorama. The figure has a barely perceptible Thompson submachine gun under his raised chest. His canteen, shovel, and ammo pouches are molded onto his body.

The kneeling soldier carries M1944 combat and cargo packs on his back. This dual pack was designed to replace the M1928 haversack, and enabled the GI to leave the bottom cargo pack behind, usually containing spare clothes, while bringing essentials along in the combat pack. The two packs are molded together, with the M1943 shovel on top of them. A little care is required in making sure his left arm rests properly on his upraised knee. His right hand is molded onto the carbine, the barrel of which was broken off in my package.

Both wear the M1941 jacket and canvas leggings. Trousers can be painted either brownish wool or olive drab.

These are two very nice figures, crisply molded and poised for action.
