U.S. Soldier Running With Rifle Grenade

This figure, another of the 30th Infantry Division quartet, is trotting along with a grenade loaded and ready to be launched from his Garand. As with his fellow GI's, he's all geared up with an ammo bandolier across his chest; late pattern gas mask bag over his shoulder; raincoat tucked into the back of his cartridge belt; a spare bag of grenades; as well as wire cutters, entrenching tool, first aid pouch, bayonet, and trench knife. Again, his canteen cover is unsnapped, so you might want to switch it out with one that's buttoned up from your parts box just for variety.

He wears the M1941 combat jacket, and his OD trousers with full cargo pockets are rolled down over his canvas leggings - a nice touch. Like the other figures, he has a raised divisional patch on his left shoulder that you could slice off and replace with insignia from another appropriate infantry division.

Needless to say, the sculpting is first rate. The torso and legs are cast as one piece, and there are helpful locator pins to position the arms and attach the raincoat (Note to Other Manufacturers: The Nemrod sculptor provides four different raincoats for this quartet of 30th ID soldiers, not just one. Nemrod understands that identical, cookie-cutter accessories can detract from the realism of their figures). The hands are wrapped around the Garand. There's a bit of flash, and a mold seam running up the back of the right leg. Again, you'll need to provide a strap for the ammo bag, as well as the Garand and helmet chinstraps. Scale wise, he's on par with the recent Tamiya figures.

Get this guy and his buddies together and they'll be all set for a wild romp through the wicked rural bocage or mean streets of St. Lo.
