Nuts & Bolts for 1/35 Sherman Bogies
Modeling the U.S. Army in WWII

No manufacturer of plastic kits-except Tasca, to my knowledge-has created a set of bogies that includes all six retaining bolts (three on each side of the bogie) that secured the gudgeon pins in the revised pin mount on the heavy duty vertical volute suspension. For the more discerning modeler (i.e., one afflicted with Advanced Modeler's Syndrome), this has meant trips to the railroaders' side of the hobby store in search of Grandt Line bolts or small hex-shaped Plastruct rods.

LionMarc has come to the rescue with a package of 80 brass nut and bolt units (as opposed to separate nuts and bolts). This is an amazing bit of brass machining. No, you won't see the actual threads in the bolts, but the nuts are true hexagonal shapes with the round bolt protruding through one side. A few dabs of superglue are all you need to spiff up that bottom bit of bogie. Of course, you don't have to do the rear side if you're not concerned about judges with dental mirrors, or will festoon your Sherman with mud. But if you take special delight in knowing that under that muck is the spitting image of a VVS suspension, you probably can't have too many of these sets on hand.
