Verlinden has long produced a solid resin version of this .30 cal. package, which boxed together four of the commonly-seen 250-round metal cans. But this set gives you the option to build them open or closed. The finished open box accommodates four .30 cal. cans from Verlinden, Tamiya, etc..

The straps, which represent wire bands that were stapled around the circomference of the boxes, are made with a stiffer paper. You want to make sure you get the eye of the band positioned as seen in the product photo above; the tail end is inserted and folded backward. Of course, you could opt for a slender wire to do the trick as well.

The boxes build up easily with white glue. Care must be taken with the bands; the ends of two of mine splintered when I bent them back over the eyes.

No guide is given to painting the boxes. I did see one on E-bay that was purported to be from WWII and it was painted OD inside and out, and marked in yellow stencils.

I'll look forward to adding these boxes to my upcoming armor projects.
