The 37mm gun has gotten a lot of attention in the past few years, with the release of Academy's M3 Lee and subsequent M3 Grant, and the M3 anti-tank gun from Trakz. The first two kits supply ammo, the Trakz kit does not. And none of the kits provide ammo boxes that would help dress a tank or emplaced gun (or M8 Greyhound, for that matter). Verlinden has a long out-of-production set of boxes and ammo. So this set from GCLaser could have been a welcome addition. Unfortunately, the operative word here is "could."

According to available documentation, there were two types of 37mm boxes during WWII: eight rounds and 20 rounds. (See Barry Beldam's website Armoured Acorn for diagrams and markings for the 20-round box.) Unable to find anything that gives credence to a six-round box, I contacted GCLaser. In reply, they stated their version of a six-round box was a bit of an "extrapolation." Their product is essentially the same design as the old Verlinden box, which of course calls that product into question as well.

Parts for six boxes are included on a thin slice of micro-plywood. You can build the boxes opened or closed. The parts build up nicely, though the string provided as a carrying handle is a bit tricky to knot into place.

Because this product relies too much on conjecture, I can't recommend it as a 37mm ammo box. If anyone has further information please contact me and I'll reconsider my opinion.
